I am a contemporary artist living in Vista, CA. Much of what shapes my studio practice comes from my experiences both as a girl in England and as part of an English immigrant family in America. Memory and relationships inspire much of my work. Recently, I have become interested in exploring the effects of mental illness on individuals, their families, and caregivers. I also enjoy using water as a metaphor for the personal trials and triumphs we face. The focus of my studio work is figurative oil painting, but I also find inspiration in other media such as photography, wearable art, and drawing.
I earned an MFA in Visual Art from Vermont College of Fine Arts and an MA in Painting from Cal State Dominguez Hills. I’ve taught in California secondary schools and was an adjunct professor of art at Southern Utah University until I retired to paint full-time.I’ve worked and exhibited extensively in the US and recently had solo exhibitions in Utah, Arizona, Nevada, and California. I’m married to the love of my life and have a wonderful, energetic family.
